Napoleon’s CFO returns to work after paid leave

Kevin Garringer was placed on leave on October 21 “while an investigation is conducted into a matter involving the Department of Finance.”

NAPOLEON, Ohio – The city of Napoleon’s finance director is back on the job just days after being placed on paid administrative leave, according to council president John Ross Durham.

Kevin Garringer was placed on leave on October 21 “while an investigation is conducted into a matter involving the Department of Finance.” He was cleared to return to work on Oct. 25, according to a news release from Durham.

The human resources director for the city said WTOL 11’s request for Garringer’s personnel and disciplinary records was too broad. WTOL 11 has made a more specific request and is waiting to hear back.

Durham provided the following statement in the press release from October 25:

Napoleon City Council takes all allegations seriously and believes it is essential to protect the integrity of our city and the individuals involved.

The decision was made with careful consideration, ensuring a fair and impartial investigation process, protecting all parties involved. After conducting our due diligence, we are pleased to announce that we have full confidence in Kevin’s return to his role as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Napoleon. Napoleon City Council stands firmly behind him and appreciates his unwavering professionalism and cooperation throughout this process.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to Kevin for his dedication and commitment to the City of Napoleon during this time. We look forward to his return and his continued management of our financial operations.
