TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A local CFO who was placed on administrative leave is back at work just days later.
Napoleon City Council members moved last week to place city finance director Kevin Garringer on paid administrative leave on Aug. 22 amid an investigation into the finance department.
Napoleon Council President John Ross Durham said on October 25 that Garringer was given the green light to return to his duties.
It is unclear what prompted the investigation. Officials have not released that information, and 13 Action News has not yet obtained the information for which we filed a public records request.
A statement from the President of Durham Council on Friday said the city council “takes all allegations” seriously and believes it is essential to protect the integrity of the city and the people involved.
“The decision was made with careful consideration, ensuring a fair and impartial investigation process, protecting all parties involved,” Durham’s statement said. “After conducting our due diligence, we are pleased to announce that we have full confidence in Kevin’s return to his role as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Napoleon. Napoleon City Council stands firmly behind him and appreciates his unwavering professionalism and cooperation throughout this process.
